As we continue to be more and more reliant on digital platforms and become less plugged in to TV and Cable, the question becomes where do I spend my money if I’m a small business. I’ve had several smaller clients recently approach me with what they should be doing to get their name out….especially those that have been reliant on referrals.
We are all subjected to over 5,000 pieces of content on a day-to-day basis - companies have got to be part of the conversation. Otherwise they will go away.
The good news is that platforms continue to be able to niche down into building your target audience. Narrow your field of buyers to the ages of your clients, if they are male or female, location - even a set of zip codes, interests, best time of day, etc. This will give you less marketing waste. Further, you can likely even give your marketing agency a list of your clients that they can plug in to a digital platform and tell it to go build you an audience that is just like them, and mimics their online activities. We use a lot of lookalike audiences for clients, and they work well, but as I tell all of my clients, you may want to use more channels to see if you can catch the right person at the right time.
Well, let’s just say they don’t buy, but you want to continue marketing to that person because you know they have visited your site already. You can use remarketing to continue to show your brand and determine how long you want to follow them around. Has anyone ever gone to buy something online failed to make the purchase, but continue to see ads for that same brand or similar products. Well, they are tracking you for a reason. It will eventually stop, but you will likely see it for the next 30 days. Remarketing is also one of the most cost efficient and effective platforms that you will find. It also often leads to a purchase and definitely helps with brand recognition.
Marketing and advertising doesn’t have to be expensive, but it needs to be the new normal for more companies. If you need help with your digital strategy, give us a call, we’d love to chat.
